For ten years I have been running writing retreats specifically for international doctoral researchers in Bonn.

We either meet for three days at the GSI in Bonn or spend five days in the Monastery of Maria Laach in the Eifel. In small groups we work on texts together, resolve open questions, overcome writing blocks, and recharge motivation for the “marathon” of the doctorate. The retreats offer a focused, motivating break from everyday obligations and are organized in cooperation with the International Office, the University of Bonn, and the Bonn Graduate Center.
